Navratri Baby Photoshoot Ideas

Navratri is a vibrant festival of joy and celebration, making it the perfect time to capture beautiful memories with your baby girl. Here are some captivating ideas for a Navratri baby photoshoot:

Traditional Attire and Accessories

  • Dress your baby girl in a vibrant chaniya choli, a traditional Gujarati attire, or a lehenga choli, a popular North Indian outfit.
  • Opt for bright colors like red, blue, green, and yellow, with intricate embroidery or mirror work.
  • Enhance the look with traditional jewelry like lightweight bangles, anklets, and a delicate maang tikka.

Dandiya and Garba Theme

  • Create a festive atmosphere with colorful curtains, lanterns, and Dandiya sticks.
  • Capture candid moments of your baby playing with the props.
  • Pose her in simple Garba dance steps.

Goddess Durga Inspired Shoot

  • Dress your baby girl in red or orange with gold embellishments, reminiscent of Goddess Durga.
  • Use a backdrop with elements like a lion, lotus flowers, and mandala patterns.
  • Incorporate props like a small trident and a lotus flower.

Dance Pose Capture

  • Position your baby in classic Garba or Dandiya Raas dance poses.
  • Capture candid moments as she interacts with the props.
  • Aim to create images that showcase the exuberance of Navratri through your baby's natural movements.

Colorful Backdrops

  • Use vibrant colors like red, yellow, green, and blue to create a lively and festive atmosphere.
  • Incorporate traditional Indian patterns like bandhani (tie-dye) and leheriya (wave patterns).
  • Include elements like Dandiya sticks, small garba pots, and festive decorations.

    • Pair them with comfortable pajamas in coordinating colors.
    • Accessorize with a small stole or a traditional cap.

Launching our Durga Devi Plush Toy

When we were getting ready to launch our mantra-singing plush toy, Durga Devi, last year in time for Navratri, I couldn't resist getting my niece dressed up for a special themed photoshoot. As a Gujarati, we knew that raas, dandiya and garba are in her blood, but the way she held the dandiya like a pro -- at the mere age of six months -- proved it all the more.

Hope this Navratri-themed photoshoot idea helps get your family in the festive spirit. Whether you're taking photos at home or in a studio, remember that your baby is ultimately the boss, and while you may be the one taking the shots, it's your baby who will be callig the shots.
